We’ve entered weird times again, and with it a lot of uncertainty. Earlier this fall we sent out a survey to gauge people’s interest in having a Master’s season this year, and we felt that we had enough to give it a go. The executive figures that we can have a viable season if we have about 10 members signed up at a minimum.
Unfortunately, we’ve only had 4 members register for the 2022 season so far. We realize that with the changing situation of the pandemic, people were probably reluctant to make a commitment to something that could get cancelled. And with omicron, that fear has probably been well founded. But it leaves the Masters in a bit of a situation. We can’t have a season with only 4 members. So what to do?
The executive have decided to cancel the first 3 events on the schedule and extend the membership signup date until January 10, 2022. That would make our first event Sunday Jan 16 out in Minnedosa. If things settle down and we can get 6 more members signed up before Jan 10, then we’ll go ahead. If we don’t, then we’ll look at our options, which would be putting the club in hiatus with Manitoba Alpine for another year, like we did last year.
